Reinventing a previously stale SUV is not at all like reinventing the wheel. In fact, it would seem it’s quite simple if you look to Nissan as an example.
Sure, the Micra has stolen the show as of late, but the brand-new and redesigned Nissan Murano is definitely taking in some of the limelight since it arrived on our roads this year. Nissan’s latest revamp of the tried and tested SUV has been for the better, and it’s actually not just about the look.
The 2015 Nissan Murano features the same engine that was found in the last generation, a 3.5L V6 that pushes out 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. Coupled with a CVT, the Nissan Murano isn’t just fun to drive, it’s also fuel efficient, with fuel rating numbers hovering in the 8.8L/100km range (in ideal conditions and according to Nissan). Power is plenty enough for the SUV to get going, and the CVT behaves almost like a typical automatic transmission, which means no loud droning in your ears upon hard acceleration.
There are four different versions of the 2015 Nissan Murano available, and they are: S, SV, SL, and Platinum. While the engine and transmission remain the same across the board, it’s the aesthetic and interior amenities that change ever so slightly across the lineup. At the very top of the pack, you’ve got the Platinum that commands not only top dollar (in the Nissan pricing scale), but also top respect from others on the road with it. Outfitted with 20” aluminum-alloy wheels, and a full leather interior, and painted in something as catching as Pacific Sunset (yup, that lovely burnt orange hue), the 2015 Nissan Murano is a total head-turner.
The new look is what Nissan calls “V-Motion” and it’s so fluid and modern, with a touch of sophistication and sex appeal. You’ll have a hard time finding an SUV that’s better looking than the 2015 Murano. The signature lobster-claw taillights/headlights, coupled with the roofline that seems to float make the 2015 Nissan Murano one of the road’s more attractive vehicles, for sure.
The 2015 Nissan Murano features plenty of well designed interior amenities and gadgets as well. Brushed silver and chromed accents along with ambient lighting to set the mood to ensure your experience inside the cabin of the 2015 Murano is a luxurious one. If you opt for an SL trim or higher, you’ll be treated to full leather everything. Up front, occupants will easily manipulate the onboard entertainment system via an 8” touchscreen. And in the rear, passengers can control their own climate (and there are even available heated seats back there) as well as charge all their devices with USB ports in the middle console.
The 2015 Nissan Murano is not to be missed. For a closer look and to book your next test drive, come in to our showroom at Morrey Nissan of Coquitlam today.
