Only in its second generation, the all-new 2017 Nissan Armada didn’t just change its exterior looks, it changed its innards, too – and for the better.
With a new style and lease on life, this latest edition of the Armada is ready to tackle anything you throw its way.
First, let’s start with the fact that while the previous generation was based on the Nissan Titan platform, this latest generation of the Armada is based on the Infiniti QX80 platform. Even in terms of looks, this shift is immediately noticeable.
From the outside, the 2017 Nissan Armada could easily be mistaken for the Infiniti QX80, and that’s not a bad thing. However, the signature instantly recognizable and imposing Nissan-branded chrome-lined front grille is an immediate giveaway. And where the older generation was a wee bit boxy, this 2017 model is all sleek, smooth lines and edges -- leagues above the outgoing model in terms of exterior design and looks. Also newly available are 20” wheels, as well as LED headlights, both of which ensure that the 2017 Nissan Armada looks both modern and sporty on the road.
Inside, the nod to the Infiniti QX80 continues with interior features that are most definitely similar to Nissan’s luxury division. The use of wood-tone and brushed chrome give the Armada an air of upper-class sophistication that previously wasn’t seen in the rugged SUV. With seating for up to 8 and a ridiculous amount of cargo space, the 2017 Nissan Armada is set to be the ultimate weekend warrior for families both small and large. And there’s no question that every single passenger will ride in style and comfort.
Now, about that drive: The 2017 Nissan Armada is equipped with a 5.6L V8 that pushes out 390 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. Of note, the Armada also has a towing capacity of 8,500lbs which means your weekends really can be filled with adventure when you get behind the wheel. There’s also an all-mode 4WD system that automatically switches to 4WD when the system detects slippage, and then switch back to 2WD for optimal fuel efficiency.
The powerful V8 is awesome, but what’s even more awesome is the level of safety the 2017 Nissan Armada boasts. Features such as Backup Collision Prevention, Intelligent Cruise Control, front and rear parking sonar, Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, and Blind Spot Warning and Blind Spot Intervention make the 2017 Nissan Armada the safest Armada to date. All good things, very good things.
