2018 Nissan Qashqai: an SUV that surprises on many levels

Japanese automaker Nissan knows SUVs well. Indeed, the manufacturer already offers one of the most comprehensive ranges of SUVs in the automotive industry and another model will be added shortly when the Nissan Kicks joins the Nissan range in a few months. It will be positioned under the 2018 Nissan Qashqai, another sub-compact SUV that has nothing to envy to its competition.

With its starting price set at only $ 19,998, the 2018 Nissan Qashqai is not only the most affordable Nissan SUVs at the moment, it is one of the most affordable in the automotive industry. Nevertheless, it is far from lacking equipment and selling points.

A fuel-efficient engine for the 2018 Nissan Qashqai

The Nissan Qashqai offers a single engine as standard, but this is an engine that is able to meet several needs. Indeed, the 2018 Nissan Qashqai is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. This engine can be paired with a six-speed manual, but many buyers will prefer the Nissan XTronic CVT Continuously Variable Transmission.

Despite its impressive power, this engine is fairly fuel efficient as evidenced by its average consumption of only 7.3 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway, and 8.8 liters per 100 kilometers in the city with the CVT box.

This is for the front-wheel drive versions. Even with the all-wheel drive, however, the 2018 Nissan Qashqai stands out in terms of efficiency with an average fuel consumption rating of 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway, and 9.0 liters per 100 kilometers in the city.

A lot of space in the 2018 Nissan Qashqai

Despite its affordability and compact dimensions that make the Qashqai very easy to maneuver in the city, Nissan's small SUV remains versatile. Indeed, it features a trunk that can hold 648 liters with all seats in place and 1,730 liters when the rear seat is lowered. Yes the Qashqai is compact, but that does not stop it from being roomy!
