All you need to know about Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, we get an almost perfect connection between our phone and our car. In other words, we are more connected when we buy a vehicle with one or another of these technologies.

If you have recently shopped for a vehicle, chances are you've heard of Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto. As you may have guessed, the first is compatible with Apple phones and the second with Android devices. Everyone knows that.

Many, however, are unaware of all the benefits that come with these devices. Much more than just a Bluetooth system, they offer better connectivity in addition to improved driving safety. Here's everything you need to know about Apple CarPlay and Android Auto devices.

The central screen of your car becomes the screen of your phone

When you connect Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you notice that your car's center screen is actually the screen of your phone. In other words, you see your apps as they appear on your mobile device's screen. It is a simplified interface since not all applications are relevant which makes the whole thing even more enjoyable.

    You can use your apps

Since you see these applications, you can of course use them. It may seem trivial, but it's just the opposite. For example, you can use Google Maps to navigate even if you do not have a navigation system in the car. You can also use your music player with the controls of the car. In short, you can use your multimedia system as if you were using your phone.

You can use the voice commands on your phone

Whether SIRI with an Apple phone or OK Google with an Android phone, you'll have access to voice commands with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Thus, it is much easier and safer to use your mobile phone while driving your car.

Android Auto and/or Apple CarPlay systems are available in Nissan Altima, Nissan Kicks, Nissan LEAF, Nissan Maxima, Nissan Murano, Nissan Rogue and Nissan Micra models. For more information, contact us today at Morrey Nissan of Coquitlam.
