Nissan currently offers one of the most extensive sport utility vehicle lineups on the market, but the Japanese manufacturer still felt there was still room for another model. And that’s where the all-new 2017 Nissan Qashqai comes in. The new subcompact sport utility vehicle was unveiled at this year’s North American International Auto Show, and should arrive this spring where it will slot between the smaller Nissan Juke and the new and very popular Nissan Rogue.
Three versions of the all-new 2017 Nissan Qashqai
The all-new 2017 Nissan Qashqai will feature three versions each offering an impressive level of equipment. The base S model comes standard with Bluetooth with text message assistance, a rear-view camera and both USA and auxiliary audio jacks while the SV model will offer a mooroof, dual-zone climate controls, 17-inch wheels, heated leather steering wheel, heated seats, Nissan’s intelligent key with push-buttons start, remote starter, and a lot more.
The Nissan Qashqai SV also features Nissan’s Divide-N-Hide Cargo System which increases the SUV’s overall versatility.
The top SL trim adds 19-inch wheels, a navigation system, leather seats, NissanConnect connectivity app, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen color display. The 2017 Qashqai SL also offers an Around View Monitor for better 360-degree visibility when maneuvering around tight areas.
When it comes to safety, the 2017 Qashqai also features an impressive list of equipment. The Qashqai’s driver assistance technologies include forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring. Standard safety equipment includes Hill Start Assist, Active Engine Braking, Active Ride Control and Active Trace Control. There is also an Electronic Brake Force Distribution system along with Brake Assist technology.
A powerful, fuel-efficient engine inside the 2017 Nissan Qashqai
The 2017 Nissan Qashqai will offer only one option at launch, but that engine should prove to be both powerful and fuel-efficient. Indeed, the Qashqai’s 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine will deliver 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque, and will come standard with a six-speed manual transmission in front-wheel drive models. All-wheel drive models get a continuously variable automatic gearbox.
We do not yet know the exact fuel economy numbers for the new 2017 Qashqai, but we know from previous Nissan models that it should prove to be quite efficient.
We do know that it will be spacious with up to 648 liters of cargo space with all seats in place, and 1,730 liters of cargo space with the rear seats folded.
