2017 Nissan Titan versus Ford F-150: the champ or the underdog?

Let’s get this out of the way right now. The F-150 is a tough competitor for the all-new and redesigned 2017 Nissan Titan. The F-150 is very popular, and it is also offered in several versions. The Nissan Titan doesn’t have that many versions, but what it lacks in diversity it makes up for in quality, comfort, value, and capability.

2017 Nissan Titan vs Ford F-150 in Coquitlam: it all depends on your needs

The 2017 Nissan Titan was built with balance in mind. At the moment, the 2017 Nissan Titan comes with only one engine. The 5.6-liter V8 engine in the Titan offers 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque. It can tow up to 9,390 pounds which is quite impressive. It starts at $44,650, and offers plenty of standard equipment and loads of safety and connectivity features. But we'll get back to that.

Let’s first look at the other Titan model, the 2017 Nissan Titan XD. The big dog if you will. The 2017 Titan XD also gets the V8 engine, but a 5.0-liter turbodiesel Cummins V8 engine is also offered, and that’s something the F-150 cannot offer. As a matter of fact the Titan XD is in a class of its own. That’s not bragging, it’s actually a fact.

If you look at the Ford F-Series, the Titan XD fits somewhere between the F-150 and the F-250. The XD was designed for buyers who need a lot of towing capacity, but that also want a pickup that was designed for life away from the construction site. The 2017 Nissan Titan XD can tow more than 12,000 pounds and is offered starting at $46,250. With equivalent features and the equipment needed to tow that much weight, the Ford F-250 will be slightly pricier. The new Nissan Titan also has a 98-liter fuel tank which gives it more range over the Ford F-Series.

2017 Nissan Titan vs Ford F-150: more than just specs

We could compare specs all day, but the fact remains that the Nissan Titan and Ford F-150 will be quite similar in many areas. Where the Titan truly differs is in its balance and everyday usability. The Titan was designed to handle anything your family needs, and features a spacious and luxurious cabin as well as a quiet and refined ride that is not too far off your traditional midsize SUV. That’s where the Titan manages to set itself apart and where, if you are looking for a pickup truck that will feel like on when you need it to but not when you’re commuting, the 2017 Nissan Titan will surely cover all your needs.
